In continuation with our previous article, let us explore something more about meditation and its implications on human life. – The Only Meditation Resources you will ever need!
Meditation and it’s implication
In last article few questions were left unanswered. First let us find out answers of those.
If you have not read the previous article please read –
One of the questions was what Gautam Buddha lost after he attained enlightenment. It is very easy to explain what one gets by doing some act, but very difficult to explain what I lost. Human mind is very sensitive. Rather I would say human mind is the best friend of self as well as the worst enemy of the same self. It sound very different, how can one be the best friend as well as worst enemy at the same time. In last article I made a point about our mind as a garbage store house. In our home if we keep our garbage collector in good condition and every day we spray with nice perfume and decorative stuffs we will find it not repelling, but on the contrary if we keep the container as full dirt, left for foul smell to come, definitely we will not love it. In the same fashion our own mind cheats us. In our day to day life, rather I would say busy life our mind cheats us at every now and then. From the time we get up from the bed till the time we go to our bed for sleep, our mind is in constant work. Sometimes we provide our body to rest by relaxing, taking hot water shower and many more other acts, but we never provide such relaxation to our mind. Our mind is in constant action. And it seems our mind takes revenge on us by cheating us. But question is how it cheats us. Most of you must be thinking, question was related to what Buddha lost, and what I am writing all about. This is a genuine concern J, and we will address this questions as well, rather you will notice there is no need to address this question at all, once we understand how our mind cheat on us.
There are various ways in which our mind cheats on us. I would take very simple example. If someone praises us we blush a lot, and feel like we are in heaven. But wait what if the same guy says something bad about us after saying some good stuffs, how we react. Have you ever noticed? Most of us have almost the same reaction. We don’t like it isn’t it. Anyone who is there who likes his/her criticism? If yes, you are not from the mass. Our general tendency is that we get upset, we don’t feel good, we feel like doing unwanted stuff and many more. But how many of us have observed our mind during that time. Remember same friend of us has told few good as well as few criticisms. But where our mind has diverted our attention, only on the criticism and we forget the good stuffs which our friend has told about us. This is how our mind cheats. I guess most of us have gone through this experience some or other time. Mind plays a trick here, and is taking revenge on us. Why revenge because in today’s busy world of ours, we forget to provide rest to our mind. Mind has taken a very prominent place in our body, suppose how human being would have looked like, if mind were near stomach and stomach in place of mind. Whole perception will change. But our mind is there at its right and prominent place. We take care of our body, our stomach, and our muscles by going Gym, our stamina by doing regular exercise dieting and many more, but in these act where we have placed our mind. What we do for our mind? Almost nothing. So mind takes revenge because we have neglected it. With this explanation I think you must have got your answer of what Buddha lost. Rather than directly answering this, let us take one more scenario. When we are million times angry on someone, and if that someone is in some other city, what we do. Most of us take our mobile, call that person and yell at him, by dong this we feel so relaxed that that certain pressure has eased.
But have we ever observed what makes us do this? Why we can’t wait for some time? It is our mind only who directs us to do all these. Actually we are slave of our mind. This is very bold sentence. What does a slave do? A slave is a person for whom his/her master command is everything. A slave can’t think of himself, he can’t take any decision of his own and many more. I hope most of you have got the answer of our question asked at the very beginning of this article. Our mind is our master; we do as per the direction of our mind. And this mind takes amazing decision sometimes really very fruitful and sometimes very devastating. And we get lost by that. But our mind never allows us to settle, relax and takes decision in haste. Gautam Buddha was the winner. Winner of his mind. He conquered his mind. He guided his mind. This is very interesting, sometimes in our life we do guide our mind but mostly our mind guides us. If we try to find the answer of our question, what Gautam Buddha lost, he lost the anger, he lost the uneasiness, he was no more a slave of his mind, but a master of his mind. But how did he achieve all this? By relaxing his mind, by providing rest to his 24/7 working mind. I told 24/7, it’s because sometimes even in our sleep we are in dream, and try to recall those dreams after we get up via mind only. If we provide a proper channel to our mind, we can also become master of our mind, and live in this beautiful world and enjoy every moment of us. Only push we have to do is to fight in our initial days of practicing meditation with our mind. Once we come out winner we will enjoy every bit of meditation and every bit of moment. We will go in deeper aspect of meditation, but stepwise. We can’t climb from the first stairs to last stairs in one jump; there are chances of breaking our body. We take every stairs one at each step and reach our destination. This takes us to another question, is meditation only way to reach the destination. But what is destination. Isn’t it interesting to know about this?
So, let us spend few minutes in understanding destination. In meditation, there is nothing called destination. We will generally hear finding self, merging with oneness and many more. But as per my view it’s a journey, and we enjoy the journey. Destination means we have reached our goal and now have to step down and move from there. But being in meditation helps us to enjoy our journey. There is no specific destination. It’s like if there is one line there is always another bigger line than that. But important is drawing the line, so journey is drawing the line.
During meditation we generally connect different dots. Dots, we never pay any attention to. Dots, which can change our life. Meditation helps us to connect these unattended dots and provide us a reasonable path on which we can walk in our journey which is called life.
With this note I would give rest to my pen here, otherwise pen will not feel good. Moreover we will be looking for unanswered question in our next article. But always remember famous quote by great scientist Albert Einstein – “There is neither Evolution nor Destiny; only being.” This is a journey which all of us have to travel, but how this is on us either by connecting the dots and moving properly, or like scattered dots with no direction.
